Nel 2008, per il lancio di Metal Gear Solid 4, Konami realizzò un esclusivo Premium Pack. Il bundle, annunciato ufficialmente il 21 marzo 2008 per il solo mercato giapponese, includeva una copia del gioco "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" e una PlayStation 3 da 40GB con colorazione speciale in edizione limitata.
Si tratta della prima PlayStation 3 realizzata in edizione limitata. La console è caratterizzata da un originale colore a tema "MGS4" definito in giapponese con il termine "hagane".
Il Premium Pack venne rilasciato in Giappone al prezzo di 51,800 yen (tax incl.) in quantità limitate (purtroppo non è noto il numero esatto) il 12 giugno, lo stesso giorno dell'uscita di MGS4 in tutto il mondo. Oltre alla console e al gioco in "Special Edition" (con "Metal Gear Online" starter pack/2-layer blu-ray disc), il pacchetto includeva anche un controller wireless DualShock 3 dello stesso colore "hagane".

Annunciato in un primo momento per il solo mercato giapponese, il bundle venne confermato il 10 aprile 2008 anche per gli Stati Uniti come "VERY, VERY Limited Edition". Anche in questo caso non si hanno numeri esatti delle unità realizzate.
Negli USA questo modello, chiamato “Gun Metal Grey”, venne reso disponibile esclusivamente sul sito Konami.com al prezzo di $599.99. Come per il Giappone, il bundle includeva una PS3 da 40 GB, un controller wireless DualShock 3, Metal Gear Online, un esclusivo disco Blu-ray con 2 ore di contenuto aggiuntivo (documentari, making off) e ovviamente una copia di MGS4: Guns of the Patriots in Edizione Limitata. I preordini della 'fornitura molto limitata' iniziarono il 19 maggio 2008.
